This course is ideal for students looking to take their first steps into the world of Carnatic Music. Entry level foundation course for students who are ready to start right at the beginning and do not have any prior experience learning Indian/Carnatic music.
Course Format:

12 weeks, one 1 hour lesson per week.
The course covers:
- The lessons/exercises to understand the building blocks of music, which are the 7 notes.
- The concept of Pitch (shruthi) and position of notes and also help in being able to identify them.
- To learn basic Swara patterns (saralivarisais) in the Ragam Mayamalavagowla along with its scale (arohana and avarohana).
- Aakara practice and creative swara exrcises will also be explored.
Objectives:
- Understand Shruthi and Tala
- Learn Sarali varisais in Raga Mayamalavagowla in all three speeds.
- Learn to sing aakara in 1st speed
- Attain knowledge of the history of Indian/Carnatic music.
- Understand the terminologies used in Carnatic musical parlance.
- Gain familiarity with the basic seven notes.
- Attain perfection of the Svaras through the prescribed exercises.
- Traverse comfortably in a single octave, mastering singing of all notes.
- Be motivated to pursue the next level of learning.
