The word ‘Statistics’ is derived from the Latin word ‘state’. Statistics is the area of study dealing with the presentation, interpretation and analysis of data. In simple words, the extraction of meaningful Data is called ‘Statistics’ Mathematics. In this chapter, you will study the three measures of central tendency for ungrouped data i.e, Mean, Median and Mode.
Mean is found by adding all the values of the observations divided by the total number of observations. Median is the value of the middlemost observation. The mode is the most frequently occurring observation. In this chapter, you will study the graphical representation of data in the form of Bar Graphs, Histograms of uniform width and widths, and frequency polygons. This chapter focuses on the collection of data, presentation of data and its representation of data in graphics.
