Graphs are the visual representation of data. In order to make the data more organised and easy to understand, graphs are used. They show the visual form of the numeric data. Though data can be represented in the form of tables, graphs are most preferred because they are easier to understand, especially when there is a comparison to make/trend to be shown.
In the previous chapters, we have studied bar graphs, pie charts, line graphs and histograms. In this chapter, we will study linear graphs, location of a point, coordinates and their applications.
15.1 Introduction
15.1.1 A Bar Graph
15.1.2 A Pie Graph (or a Circle Graph)
15.1.3 A Histogram
15.1.4 A Line Graph
15.2 Linear Graph
15.2.1 Location of a point
15.2.2 Coordinates
15.3 Some Applications
Graphs are pictorial/visual representation of data that are easier and quicker to understand.
A bar graph is used to visualise the comparison between categories/set of data.
A pie graph/ circle graph is used to compare parts of a whole.
A histogram is also a bar graph that shows collected data in intervals.
A linear graph is a graph which is a whole unbroken line. A line graph shows data which changes continuously over a period of time.
The relation between an independent and dependent variable is visualised with the help of a graph.
