In this chapter, you’ll study Limits and Derivatives, which are a part of the calculus. Calculus is an important branch of mathematics that refers to the study of change in the value of a function when the points in the domain change. Limit describes how a function behaves close to a point, instead of at that particular point. The derivative of a function of a real variable, measures the sensitivity to change, of the function value (output value) with respect to a change in its argument (input value). Section 13.2 – In this section, you’ll learn what velocity is and how to compute the average velocities for various time intervals (increasing as well as decreasing).
Section 13.3 – In this section, you’ll learn what limits are, right-hand limit and the left-hand limit of a function f(x), algebra of limits, limits of polynomials and rational functions. You’ll also prove some theorems.
Section 13.4 – In this section, you’ll learn the limits of some trigonometry functions. You’ll also prove some important theorems such as the sandwich theorem.
