IdentityBeing brought up in the cultural capital of Karnataka, Mysuru, and hailing from a family of art lovers, Surabhi was naturally drawn into the beautiful world of performing arts from her childhood. She started learning Hindusthani classical music, from Swarasankula vidyalaya, under the able guidance of Pt.Veerabhadraiah Hiremath from the age of 8. She is learning Bharatanatyam, from Nrityagiri ® under guru Dr. Vid. Kripa Phadke.
She has excelled in Bharathanatyam and Hindusthani classical music and has many distinctions to her credit. Along with classical forms she has also expanded her art horizon in folk forms and light classical music. She has performed in various platforms during, the world famous Mysuru Dasara, the Bidaram Krishnappa Ram Navami concerts, Taruna Bharati, Pt.Puttaraja Gawai Sangeethothsava and many more.
She considers herself as a constant learner and a self-motivator. Her driving force has been her principle of not stopping until she reaches the goal.
Music and Dance, to her are not just performing arts, but they are the modes to express herself better. To her, art is the way to connect one’s own self (aathma), with the ultimate power (paramaathma), which she considers to be that positive spark within each of us that keeps guiding us the right way.
