IdentityI started teaching whilst I was undergoing Teacher Training in UK. This involved working part-time at a number of Further Education Colleges/Schools, teaching Business subjects. I have been in teaching since 1999. I love the interaction with students, seeing their development over time and their success.
My teaching style is to foster an atmosphere of interdependence within the teaching environment - learning comes before teaching. A determined, disciplined self-starter with an insightful mind able to develop others to their full potential. Dedicated to the highest standards; appreciating the need to achieve service excellence to succeed in increasingly challenging and competitive business environments. The confidence, creativity & enthusiasm of a dynamic MBA professional whose knowledge, skills & experience is complemented by an attentive, personable & mature nature.
The subjects I love most are the people/soft skills and practical ones such as Interview Skills, Questioning Techniques, Writing Essays/Reports etc. My experience with age groups is 16+.
I have learned that I can communicate concepts, ideas, and models easily to students. I have used all kinds of technology for teaching and am proficients with/have experience of the three major Virtual Learning Platforms (VLPs) - Blackboard (Cardiff Metropolitan University), Moodle (Ulster University), and WebCT (Essex University).
During my career, my duties have involved to plan, evaluate, and revise curricula, course content, and course materials and methods of instruction. Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts; designing & delivering lectures to UG and PG students on topics such as event management, principles of marketing, and contemporary issues in advertising. Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional organizations and conferences. Compile bibliographies of specialized materials for wider reading assignments. Collaborate with members of the business community to improve programs, to develop new programs, and to provide student access to learning opportunities such as internships.
Compile, administer, and grade examinations, or assign this work to others. Evaluate and grade students' class work, assignments, and papers. Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions. Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records, keeping regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students, particularly on academic and vocational curricula and career issues. Perform administrative duties in my role as Director of the CMU MBA Programme e.g. develop and maintain course websites, and to serve on academic or administrative committees that deal with institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
Currently I chair the BA/MBA Programme Committee and am a member of the Faculty Committee. Participate in campus and community events such as Guest Speaker programmes, Induction Programmes, Educational Visits, and search for Collaborative Partners. Participate in student recruitment, registration, and placement activities.
