I am classical kathak performer and teacher since past 5 years. I have B.A. degree in pure kathak. As kathak is classical form it contains a theory as well so I always try to make it fun for my student to learn and remember it and can relatively use it in their dance!!

Who is the God of Kathak?

We all worship one lord that is lord natraja for dance. There are two theories that Kathak is derived from lord Shiva's tandava and Devi parvati's lasya since Kathak has both Anga. But it also has rhythm of lord Krishna's ras nritya so it's also like Kathak is derived from Krishna's raas. ...more

Which dance is best Kathak or Bharatanatyam?

Both are best. In fact all the classical dance has base to every other dance whether it folk or western or many other. But you should learn what interests you most makes you happy while you are dancing

Can we learn Kathak without ghungroo?

Ghungroos makes sound and sound / music is very much important to dance. Also they are important part of a costume in all the classical dances.Even if we don't have any instrument and have just the ghungroos a dancer can always convey or complete his/her dance story through dance
