Download the .iso from ubuntu site (https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop) 3. See the tutorials (in the Downloads page see at the bottom) on how to install from a DVD or USB Pendrive OR try before installing it. You can also install Ubuntu on an external Pen/HDD and I prefer that for beginners as you can always keep your current installation till the time you are comfortable and revert back anytime. 5. Also once comfortable and installed ubuntu in your laptop you can always have VirtualBox of VMWare Player to Install Windows as a Virtual Machine (you can use the same license key on your laptop Windows - most of the cases it works as I have seen). One of the big benefits to Linux users is no Antivirus and extremely less possibility of any malware like Ransomware attack. Hope it helps. Arijit read less

1.Backup your data into another device. Your windows installation folder typically drive C: will be formatted. 2.Download the image of the linux distro you want and burn it into a disk or to a pendrive(make sure you make it bootable).

Hello All, Thank you so much for being there to have almost every question answered. I would to let you guys know of my misery and help me out. I have been working in an IT company for the many years now with absolutely no idea of what domain I am in. Its a normal IT job where I do not perform anything technical. And I think I am not going anywhere with this. Especially when I am almost 32 now. I know its late. Also I am not good at coding and guess I won't be able to learn coding. 'But', I do have some idea about SQL and at times & I think maybe I can try my hands at learning SQL. I also have a deep urge to learn Linux. The reason I mentioned SQL and LINUX is only because I think they wouldn't be too tricky(as much as JAVA, C, or any other programming language). Please let me know if I can go ahead with learning SQL and LINUX and if I do, What all roles can i apply for, in the future. I'd be grateful to you.
