SAP MDG (SAP Master Data Governance) consists of applications to monitor master data for line of business processes. For all lines of business have a major problem of redundant and inconsistent master data in multiple systems. SAP MDG delivers framework and tools to ensure consistent master data along end to end business processes.

According to the technology research organization Master Data is the consistent and uniform set of identifiers and extended attributes that describes the core entities of the enterprise, such as customers, citizens, prospects, suppliers, sites, hierarchies, and chart of accounts.

Gartner goes on to state that every organization has Master Data, yet the definition of Master Data and its components are different in every organization. Most organizations end up not having or having incomplete definitions of what represents Master Data within the organization. Even though there is no universally acceptable example of what constitutes master data, a common definition must be applied.

SAP Master Data Governance or SAP MDG is a natural extension of the business processes operating in the SAP Business Suite, providing domain-specific Master Data Governance to centrally create, change, and distribute master data.

SAP's Business One caters prominently to small businesses, S/4HANA was designed to support large, enterprise-level organizations in an array of industries.

In terms of pricing, SAP B1 is billed on a monthly subscription basis. The cost depends on the number of users in an organization. 

SAP S/4 HANA is typically best suited to larger businesses or headquarters with substantial financial resources. Additionally, it is less geared towards rapid expansion and more useful for highly complex companies with an existing base of operations and consolidated operational strategies. 

The billing and cost of the solutions is another critical difference that can influence which option is suitable. SAP B1 operates on a monthly billing schedule, and the cost is scaled relative to the number of users within an organization. 

While SAP S/4 HANA Enterprise edition's pricing also depends on how many people will be using it, other factors influence the other available packages. For example, the Service edition and Professional services edition are billed based on the revenue from projects and an organization's expenditure. Therefore, the specific package influences the cost businesses can expect to incur when using SAP S/4 HANA. 

SAP's Ambition 2025 update demonstrates SAP's strong cloud momentum, with a cloud revenue ambition of more than €21.5bn excluding Qualtrics.Analysts expect SAP's cloud revenue to grow over 19% to €3.4 billion (about $3.7 billion). This is a slowdown from the year-ago quarter's 31%.
