Generally, the duration may lie anywhere between 6 to 12 months but that shouldn't be taken as the final word. You may finish your preparation earlier. There should be a dedicated approach to systematic learning procedure. Everything including pronunciation, grammar, composition, comprehension, verbal skills etc. should be intensively prepared. Thorough preparation under authentic guidance will provide the necessary confidence during exams as lack of it might ruin whatever knowledge you might have acquired over your study period. I suggest you focus on intensive preparation without constructing any specific time frame in your mind. If you approach systematically and direct your energies on short goals, not only you will be able to achieve them but a strong foundation will also be built which will be of great assistance in the long run. Time is just a numeric component which can bring endless knowledge with it especially when not kept track of.
