One of my best teaching experiences with Class 9 Commerce was during a lesson on “Business Studies.” I began by engaging students with a real-life question: “If you could start your own business, what would it be?” This sparked an exciting discussion about entrepreneurship, which I followed up with examples of successful entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs and Ratan Tata. We then dove into key concepts like goods vs. services, demand and supply, and business functions. I used simple diagrams to explain these ideas and showed short videos to make them relatable. Students worked in teams to create business plans for hypothetical businesses, which allowed them to apply what they’d learned in a hands-on way. The class was highly interactive, and it was rewarding to see students actively engaging with the material, asking insightful questions, and connecting the concepts to their own lives. By the end of the lesson, students not only understood the basics of business but were excited about the possibilities of entrepreneurship. It was a fulfilling moment that reinforced the importance of making learning interactive and practical.
