I have been teaching for almost a year. I get into a fair interactive session with all of my students to make them comfortable. As far as my experience, I understood it that there's a lot of people who doesn't tend to speak up because they are really conscious about their pronunciation and diction. I have met many students who rarely practices unless and until they're given task on it. My concern has always been in making them learn with interest, rather than applying any force.
