Hi Shruti, skill development is a slow and continuous process. The most important thing for skill development within a person is the identification of competencies that you desire to teach. Once you determine the skill goals, then comes the evaluation of the existing competencies and comparing it with the desired level of expertise that you wish to achieve in honing a skill. After the skill gap is understood resulting from the evaluation process, you are required to plan accordingly to acquire the desired level of expertise in a skill group.

The planning would include setting up a role model for yourself, observing the skills and practising them yourself. Practising is a critical element of the skill development process which would help you in sharpening the skills acquired. Once you get along well in practising the desired power, it is time for another evaluation in which you need to determine the improvement that you have made in acknowledging the skill gap that you identified at the very beginning.

Assessment can be done by studying the output levels that you are achieving or by taking expert opinion from a good mentor. After that, you may reflect upon future development plans based on the feedback you receive in the final evaluation process.

And as I have already mentioned, it is a continuous process, and all these steps would keep on repeating in the skill development process.
