JavaScript is a scripting language, sure we can make many things by JS, but we can't build any website or software just based on it. JS is a programming language. There is no doubt in that.

Not 100% oops programming, but, useful, easy to learn and web programming language primarily for client side, nowadays it is used for server-side programming language. Most popular, what else you need. It depends on you whether you use it really or just talking.
