The very basic difference between CSIR NET and the UGC NET is as follows :
1. CSIR NET is for science background students whereas, UGC NET is for the other subjects except sciences (for eg. History, Commerce, English etc. )
2. There is negative marking in CSIR NET exam whereas, there is no negative marking in UGC NET exam.

For your effective preparation strategy, you can follow the following steps:
1. Be confident about your chosen subject.
2. Download the UGC NET paper 1 and paper 2 syllabus from the official website.
3. Busy one best book for Paper 1 and one for paper 2 (for eg. KVS Madaan for paper 1)

5. Practice previous year questions.
