IELTS speaking is the same for Academic and General Training.
Speaking is a face-to-face interview with an examiner, which lasts for 11 to 14 minutes. The examiner will make a voice recording of the test.
Speaking is divided into three parts.
Part 1 is a discussion where you answer general questions about yourself, family, hobbies, and other familiar topics.
In part 2, you speak about a topic for up to 2 minutes. The topic is given to you as a cue card. You are given 1 minute to prepare, during which time you can make notes. You can refer to your notes as you speak. Following your talk, the examiner may ask one or two questions based on the topic.
In part 3, the examiner asks you questions based on the topic in section 2. It is a discussion which is more abstract, where you express your views and opinions.
