Started as Beginner. ..

"I joined Sir a year ago for keyboard classes, with no background or knowledge of music. Within couple of classes I realised that I have not joined any random keyboard tutor but has joined an institute. His knowledge of music and teaching techniques ensure that one doesn't only learn an instrument but learn and understand deeper science music. In one year, he imparted lessons to train my fingers and senses which prepared me to play ragas, songs and difficult compositions (and not only melody part, but chords too). His lessons build foundation rather than simply jumping to songs etc. Learning music requires lot of patience and persistent, sir knows how to keep student motivated throughout the journey. I also want to mention one more thing about sir which is his guidance on how to practice. He has shared some very helpful tips on how to achieve best from whatever time I can devote from my busy life for practice. I believe his rich experience of 50+ years in music and his eagerness to share his knowledge makes him an extraordinary music teacher. "

Started as Beginner. ..

"I joined Sir about 8 months back as a novice Indian classical violin student. Being a beginner to this instrument and in fact any musical instrument, the way he taught me lessons is worth mentioning. I take one class of 1 hour per week, but the content taught in that one class is worth more than one week of practice. Violin is a relatively difficult string instrument and most of the students end up quitting it, but the motivation and enthusiasm with which he teaches makes you overcome that fear. My class is a combination of theoretical and practical, and apart from teaching music lessons he also teaches about how one can go for his/her own composition. I even had enriching jam sessions with his other advanced students. Within a short span of 8 months time, he has taught me various melodies and Ragas. His ability to identify lacking and shortcomings and how one should work on his/her weaknesses to improve is impressive. I have been given lessons on Oscillations, slides, and shuffling fingers in staccato style. In last class, only me and one of his other violin students were learning one of his own great composition and getting an idea for a formal presentation style for a concert. I am privileged to have a mentor who is imparting me lessons to understand the actual richness of classical solo rendition as well as orchestral presentation. I think any fresher or advanced student in the field of music irrespective of the instrument will be benefited to develop his musical senses. "

Sitar

"I joined respected Sir a few months ago as a novice, having no prior knowledge of music. He took me under guidance and helped me understand the very basics of Indian classical music. He not only helped me with buying a good quality instrument, he even spent many hours over multiple days in the shop to get it properly tuned. While teaching, he understands my requirements and employs various techniques to overcome my shortcomings. He has various techniques under his command to bring out the proficiency and to make one feel comfortable with this relatively difficult instrument Sitar. He not only teaches me the strokes that should be applied for a particular note or set of notes, but also explains the usefulness of that way of playing in the bigger frame of picture. This helps in the deeper understanding of the ways Sitar can be played and should be played. I feel humbled to have a teacher like him and wish to grow under his guidance. "
