2. Rusty and old Strings.Thats a big no no. It does really take away the interest on the guitar.

3.Intonation Problems(Tuning). Check Intonations everywhere on the guitar, play the open strings and then go to their 12th frets each (An Octave basically). If it dosent stay in tune when you play it on the 12th, you have intonation problems. Not very serious, but it is very annoying.

hope it helps!

How did the guitar become such a popular instrument?
Guitars are reasonably portable and relatively inexpensive. Following the invention of the pickup they became easy to amplify so as to fill a venue with sound, and relatively easy to record.

Is it worth spending 2000 per month for a private guitar tuitor,  the teacher claims he will teach me ear training also? Please reply asap, thanks

Well, if you are confident that you can learn then go for it, music is not cheap so you have to pay. Ear training is not an option to teach, a music teacher must need to teach along with the sight reading.

How can I start learning guitar on my own?
You definitely need a teacher because the all the stuff on the internet is not correct and as a beginner you will not be able to differentiate between the correct and wrong ways of doing certain things.

How much time will it take to learn electric guitar?
Completely depends on how much you practice. The instrument gives back what you give to it. Also I feel one keeps on learning. Yes you could start playing chords of your favourite songs in 2 months dedicated practice time.
