Hi,

This is a series of lesson about music theory. The goal here is to achieve a basic knowledge of music but with a clear concept.

Topic: Music scales and its notes.

Notes :

Music is basically sound waves which hit our ears to produce a series of patterns which gives us the feeling of a music rather than noise which is just sound without any pattern.

These sound waves that we hear are called sound frequency (in physics term).

But how do we differentiate a sound frequencies in a musical instrument?

We take a certain frequency value (very precisely calculated) and assign them some names or a more common term is called Notes.

These Notes have a count and some names as well:

The count is: 12

The names are:

   A   A#/Bb   B   C  C#/Db   D  D#/Eb   E   F   F#/Gb   G   G#/Ab

As you can see there are English Alphabets from A - G and some symbols like: # (sharp) and b (flat).

In later part of this series i will discuss what is "flat" and "sharp", for now lets go to...

Scales :

A musical scale is a series of tones which form a boundary of tones where the musical notes can exist.

A scale has no fixed number of notes but for the purpose of easy learning we will see the most commonly used scales in the music.

So basically scale is of generally three types :

1. Major

2. Minor

3. Dominant

That is all for this part, we will continue from the MAJOR Scale in the next part.

Cheers!
