In Google SketchUp 8, you can mirror components using the Scale tool. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to mirror components:

  1. Open Your SketchUp Model:

    • Launch SketchUp 8 and open the model in which you want to mirror a component.
  2. Select the Component:

    • Use the Select tool (the arrow icon) to select the component you want to mirror.
  3. Activate the Scale Tool:

    • Click on the "Scale" tool in the toolbar or press the "S" key on your keyboard to activate the Scale tool.
  4. Mirror the Component:

    • To mirror the component, click on one of the handles along the edge of the selected component. When you hover over a handle, you'll notice a small box at the center of the handle. Click and drag this box to the opposite side.
  5. Mirror Along an Axis:

    • To mirror along a specific axis (red, green, or blue), first, hover over the desired axis, and then click and drag the small box to the opposite side along that axis.
  6. Maintain Aspect Ratio:

    • To maintain the aspect ratio (scale uniformly), press and hold the "Ctrl" key (Windows) or "Option" key (Mac) while scaling.
  7. Complete the Mirror:

    • Click to confirm the mirrored position and size of the component.
  8. Exit the Scale Tool:

    • Once you've mirrored the component, press the "Esc" key or select another tool to exit the Scale tool.

Keep in mind that when you mirror a component using the Scale tool, you are essentially scaling it negatively along one axis, creating a mirrored effect.

If you want to create a mirror copy without affecting the original component, you may want to use the "Move" tool to make a copy and then flip it horizontally or vertically.

Please note that the steps provided are based on the functionality available in SketchUp 8. If you are using a more recent version of SketchUp, the steps or tools might be different, as the software has evolved over time.
