The most widely recognized set of principles was developed by Henri Fayol, a French engineer and management theorist, in the early 20th century.
Here are Fayol's 14 Principles of Management:
1. Division of Work: Specialization increases output by making employees more efficient.
2. Authority and Responsibility: Managers must have the authority to give orders, but they must also bear responsibility for the function.
3. Discipline: Employees must obey and respect the rules that govern the organization. Good discipline is the result of effective leadership, clear understanding, and fair agreements.
4. Unity of Command: Employees should have only one direct supervisor, to avoid conflicting instructions.
5. Unity of Direction: Teams with the same objective should be working under the direction of one manager, using one plan.
