The basic tools for Gen.English and spoken english may remain the same.That is, the time-specifying components(Tense and Time), the vocabularies for communicaing like - asking for permission, expressing grief or joy. General English is common in all educational system of tracing and learning but for spoken English it may not be a very common among us. Thus the difference is,in general english a strict method of learning, grammertical writting and speaking is must but in spoken English its not very necessary to apply this strict method of English.

Is anything the matter with the following sentence? 'I could buy only two tickets.'

'Could' is used in past tense form and since your sentence is in present tense form so The correct sentence should be I can buy only two tickets.
