I'm having 5+ years of experience in mechanical stream, now I'm looking to move IT sector so can you suggest me which course is good in market and which is easily understand for non IT fellows too. I thought to choose devops +AWS, is this good in the current scenario?
Hi Siva,
Being a mechanical engineer, if you want to come into the software field, there are good opportunities in Mech engineering-related technologies. For example, Ansys, Pro E, Catia, Solid Works, AutoCAD etc. Also, you can learn Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). All these technologies have good demand in abroad in the Aerospace industry, Automobile etc. The beauty is that, once you master these you no need to keep running after upgrading skills learning new technologies unlike in the conventional IT field (java, DevOps etc).
read lessYes. Devops+AWS (any cloud) is currently trending in the industry, and cloud has become an essential part.
You can definately move into IT. It would help if you started from programming languages. What is essential is your logical abilities and problem-solving abilities.
Being a mechanical engineer, you must be knowing design softwares. So, it will be easy to learn any other softwares as you can correlate things.
For Start courses, I would suggest you begin with Udemy/ Coursera free courses and some tutorials or technical documentation.
read lessYes for sure you can move back to IT MNCs, but first of all, you need to be more efficient in some technical language if you want MNCs to joins as a software developer. You can do work on the basics of languages like java, .net, SQL, Python, etc.
DevOps is infra part in that you won't be able to find more coding after all its individual choice.
If you require any other help, let me know I can clear your fundamental doubts of this as I am into the IT industry for more than seven years.
read lessAt first, I suggest, to continue your journey in the mechanical stream since you have five years of experience, which is so much valuable, look for right opportunities, right path in your stream. If in case it's not possible for you in practical, I suggest you first do Linux Administration. Gain, some confidence then start DevOps with AWS training. You need to speed at least six months to be proficient.
read lessGo for Linux, not advisable for AWS and DevOps for the following reason.
Total IT technologies (OS, storage, backup, database, networking, etc.) comes under the AWS cloud.
It will take more time to familiar with AWS cloud subject.
Once learn Linux ( 3 week is enough) searching job meanwhile you know AWS cloud.
Thanks!
