"I had taken about a year of Hindi class before starting classes with Hyder and we've been working on Hindi grammar, vocabulary, and speaking. Hyder has a really excellent blend of deep understanding of the grammar and an expansive vocabulary, teaching colloquial as well as formal expressions. He tailors each assignment to the student, and I've already gotten better in my comprehension after just two months of classes. "

"Hyder has been an excellent teacher. Before we started lessons he took the time to meet me to find out what I wanted to gain from Hindi lessons: to improve my basic street Hindi communication and to understand grammar properly. He continuously ensures that lessons match my interests; thinks of homework exercises that challenge my speaking, translation, and comprehension skills; and is available throughout the week by email to answer language queries I have. Hyder is also very adaptable as a teacher: for instance, when I asked him to help me with business-specific communication skills he created new lessons for this purpose. While he has a deep theoretical understanding of Hindi, he is really good at simplifying the language's concepts for a beginner. Lessons are intensive which meant that I learned and gained the confidence to speak within just two months. I now use my Hindi to communicate socially and at work. He is patient and willing to explain concepts until the student understands, and is also a very pleasant person. I would definitely recommend his lessons to anyone who wants to learn Hindi! "

"To this day I've completed a week of daily classes with Hyder and it has been great. I really appreciate his enthusiasm about languages both written and spoken. Both giving me insights into the grammar and tips about spoken hindi, phrases and slangs. I come out of each class finally understanding the grammar of some phrases I've been using or hearing for some time, and learning new phrases and expressions. I would highly recommend him, in fact, my Mother who knows even less hindi than me is about to start classes with him. Plus Hyder is an interesting person to chat with. "

"Hyder is extremely inspired by language and teaching and that comes through in the classes. He makes the student feel at ease speaking, and comfortable making mistakes...which is important, an important part of language learning! The classes are interactive, and the explanations clear. He is helpful and doesn't mind going slightly over the time if necessary. The class-time in general goes by quickly. However, there are no textbooks to study from (some handouts instead), or homework per se, so it is important to take your own initiative to practice and study outside the class. "

"After years of suffering through lessons by Hindi teachers who were either a) invested in having me learn a Sanskritized version of the language that nobody has ever spoken or b) incapable of understanding, let alone explaining, the nuances of grammar. Working with Hyder has been like a welcome baad-e-naseem on a hot Delhi day. From the outset, he has taken pains to introduce me to the Hindustani that people actually speak (as opposed to the Doordarshan tongue that the RSS wishes people spoke), offering me a version of Hindustani liberally sprinkled with Urdu -- and occasionally Dilli ki Panjabi -- as well as Hindi terms. Hyder is extremely clear in his explanations of grammar: for example, he explained the "ne" particle in a way that, after years of incomprehension on my part, finally made sense. But his emphasis is always on improving my comprehension and speaking fluency. I have felt my command of the language grow by leaps and bound thanks to Hyder's intuitive grasp of what makes everyday Hindustani so colourful. He knows his Faiz as well as he knows Punjabi gaalis. He is bright, articulate, and solicitous -- always mindful of what I am wanting to get out of my Hindi lessons -- but he is also, thank goodness, outspoken, never hesitating to tell me where I have gone astray. He is also very patient, answering my every question, pausing when it's clear I am not understanding a point. He comes to my house -- a big plus. I cannot say enough good things about Hyder! "

"Hyder is a gifted and diligent professional and a teacher of the highest order. I'm extremely grateful to have found him, and glad for our every lesson: he brings a great deal of energy to each lesson--always punctual--as well as an infectious attention to nuance in the language. Or languages: he is capable to teaching Hindi in several different registers, as well as Hindustani; and he has native fluency in Urdu. For a foreign learner like me, at an intermediate level, that kind of flexibility is a godsend. (Many other Hindi teachers in Delhi are proficient enough in both Hindi and English that they ought to be better teachers than they are.) His interest in foreign languages means that he can make useful comparisons and analysis of grammatical structures, for the student who cares. I'm sure he can do just as well without any theorising. Also, Hyder is great company, which is important when you're trying to motivate yourself through conversations for the purpose of language-learning. "
