What are the similarities between the dholak, mridangam and tabla? All are the charmvadya. Dholak, mridangam and tabla are in percussion category instruments. All are Indian instruments.

One major difference is that in tabla there are bols like dha, thirakita, dhin,thita,etc. while in mridangam it is dhim, tharikita, tham, dhom, dhiku, thaka, tha, etc. Mridangam is mostly used as an accompaniment for classical Carnatic music while tabla is used mostly as an accompaniment for classical... ...more

Yes you can learn tabla and mirdangam simultaneously as both the instrument are so same kind only just the difference the usage of the tabla the bols are more bit soft and the bols of mirdangam is loud or resonant.
