I am an entrepreneur and have more than 35 years of experience in the IT industry

Understanding what a data is, how they are captured and represented (data structures), accessing, processing and showing the data (plots), and come up with inferences to help decision making is a good place to start. Then you can throw in automatic inference and decision making as your next step.
