CPT is a first-level CA examination in India. It is a gateway to enter into the lucrative profession of CA (Chartered Accountancy). CPT is open for candidates who have registered to CPT course with the Board of Studies of the Institute and have either appeared/passed or going to appear in Oct//Nov., 2014 in 12th Standard or equivalent exam. The exam is conducted in two language – Hindi and English. The exam is held two times a year – June and December.

Eligibility Criteria:
1) A student should have passed or appeared in the SSC (Senior Secondary Examination), 10+2 exam under recognized boards in India. Here are the list for accepted boards in India:
2) An aspiring CPT student who has registered or switched over to CPT Course with Board of Studies of ICAI on or before 1st Oct., 2014 and
3) Revalidated his/her registration for CPT (as applicable):
4) A student with higher qualifications are also eligible to appear in Common Proficiency Test
Who are Exempted from Appearing the CPT Test?
Candidates who are graduate or post graduate in Commerce having secured in aggregate a minimum of 55% of total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University) with certain subjects OR Graduates or Post Graduates other than those falling under Commerce stream mentioned above having secured in aggregate a minimum of 60% of the total marks or its equivalent grade in the examination conducted by any recognized University (including Open University) are exempted from passing CPT. CPT – Cities
A candidate has to select an exam City very carefully, as once selected it cannot be changed under any circumstances.
CPT 2014 Exam Fee:
Online Application
1) Rs. 500/- (for opting a Centre in India)
2) INR 850/- (for opting Kathmandu Centre)
3) US$ 150 (for opting Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha & Dubai Centres)
However, there is no provision for online filling of application forms after 28th October, 2014 (5:30 P.M.) with late fee.

Physical (OMR) Application From for Appearing in CPT
Candidates interested to appear in PP mode (Paper-Pencil) have an option to apply for the exam through physical (OMR) forms and it can be purchased from the regional offices/designated branches of the Institute. The cost of application form and information brochure in under:
1) Rs. 1000 for opting a center in India
2) Rs. 1350 for opting Kathmandu Center
3) USD 160 if opting for Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha and Dubai Centers
Refund of Exam Fee
Under any circumstances, the Institute will not refund/adjust examination fee. However, if you end up paying Exam fee multiple times (online) to the Institute due to system error, you will receive the amount within 45 days from the last date of submission of forms.
In case, if a candidate do not receive the refund amount within 60 days from the last date of submission of forms, then he/she can write at cpt_exam@icai.in – claiming the amount with necessary payment document i.e. bank/credit card statement.
Admit Card:
Admit card for CA CPT exam will be hosted at http://www.icai.nic.in 21 days prior to the exam date. Students who have applied online need to take print out from the website: http://www.icai.nic.in. And students who have opted for physical (OMR) exam, their exam will be sent to their postal address. Under no circumstances, students who have applied online can get their Admit card at their postal address.
CPT Scoring
A student needs to score a minimum of 30% marks in each section and 50% in aggregate of all the sections of the CPT exam. The CPT test is subject to negative marking. For each wrong answer, 1/4 mark will be deducted. Also darkening of more than one circle will be considered as wrong answer.
