I have been in the teaching field for 4+ years working as an assistant professor now I need to get into a software field. Basically, I doesn't know much about programming. I need suggestions on which field it would be good.

To pursue the career in the software field, It must to have a programming background, if not, you can start now

Python and JavaScript are Easy to learn and highly demanding. Here is the combination you can try..Python + Django or Python + AI/ JavaScript + React or JavaScript + Angular

If you don't want to try for hard coding then you can learn RPA(Robotic process Automation) or DevOps. The professionals in these two fields are most demanding in the market now

The craziness of Cloud and BigData is going on and you can check out here as well and last but not least learn about No-SQL DB(Especially MongoDB)

Programming is just a matter of syntax you can choose any language all are good until and unless you are good in your logic and concept. You start with PHP also.
