Why is it difficult to speak in foreign languages?

Brain stores information via eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and touch (skin).  So coming to your question, foreign languages, we learn languages when we are exposed to it continuously to an extent that it enters the subconscious data center.  So since other language scripts are not available in our brain as we are not exposed to it, we will not be able to execute such languages.  So the best way to learn a language is by theoretically getting the scripts inside our mind and then practicing it regularly, not fearing about erring, 'coz erring is a part of success.  Watching movies with subtitles can also help to understand lip movement and pronunciation.  Hope that answers your question, good luck!

Dear Siddhatha, initially one finds foreign language difficult to learn because we have not been tuned to it in our growing years when it is easier to absorb and learn any language. But if you have a goal and are serious about it, you will find i easier to learn, if you get to speak and practice the lnaguage with other native speakers.You enjoy conversing with local speakers and you automatically pick up the vocabulary and the nuance of the language. In a nutshell, 'Practice makes the man Perfect'.

Nothing is difficult if you have set your heart to conquer it.  Choose your foreign language based on the career you are choosing and the probable destination.  Practice makes a man perfect.  You can subscribe to the TV channel of the language you have chosen to learn so that the more your hear, your vocabulary increases and when you start speaking the words will automatically flow.  Alhough you may choose based on your caeer options, unless and until you put your heart and soul to it, you will not be able to do justice.  Assume that you are in France already, in that case in order to survive there, you will autmotaically learn french fast.

Leave alone foreign languages, its difficult to speak in any other indian language apart from our mother tongue, as we don't learn / if we don't learn the language from childhood. Any language is easy to learn ,if we learn it from a very early age (4 - 5years) . Any language is difficult to learn after we master our first language (mother tongue). It's difficult but not impossible.
