This field seeks to close the gap between engineering and medicine, combining the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical biological sciences to advance health care treatment, including diagnosis, monitoring, and therapy.Prominent biomedical engineering applications include the development of biocompatible prostheses, various diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices ranging from clinical equipment to micro-implants, common imaging equipment. So, In order for u to get noticed during placements u should have some knowledge is engineering design, so that u can use your knowledge in designing medical equipment. I should suggest u do Product design and analysis course. I offer training in such course which involves CAD,CAE and CFD softwares. Thank you

How CAD/CAM help a mechanical engineer?

CAD helps in saving the design time and gives a clear picture of the components to be designed and manufactured before it's is actually designed...it helps in saving time n cost of a product development.

No...It doesn't matter unless Ur knowledge in the same is good enough to design whatever is given to you.

What are your thoughts on TopSolid, the PDM-based CAD/CAM software?

Not a good CAD package not a widely used one...try SOLIDWORKS or Creo instead.
