Perfectly Elastic Collision:- Both momentum and K.E are conserved. Inelastic collision:- Momentum is conserved within the system but kinetic energy is converted to some other form of energy like heat or sound and thus within the system is not conserved.

kinetic energy of one body will increase and the other will be decreased

Kinetic energy decreases in an inelastic collision but remains same in an elastic collision. As no collision can be perfectly elastic and there is always some loss of energy in any form so answer to your question is 2-Decreases

I agree with MR Satyanarayana Rao. An inelastic collision is one in which part of the kinetic energy is changed to some other form of energy in the collision. Momentum is conserved in inelastic collisions, but one cannot track the kinetic energy through the collision since some of it is converted to...

-->Kinetic energy remains same for the system( which consists of all the bodies) for elastic collision. --> For inelastic collision kinectic energy for the system will decrease , as there will be loss in form of heat, vibrational & elastic energy. --->Kinetic energy of individual body will depend on the mass of each body. Equations involved = momentum conservation. m1u1 + m2u2 = m1v1 + m2v2 K.E initial = K.E final + losses. (heat + vib. +elastic). From above assertions 2nd option seems to be the most accurate answer. read less
