Inside the ovaries are the seeds which are taken by birds or flies to other flowers. The carpels are fused together in most plants to form a pistil. The four main parts of a flower are stamen, petal, sepal and carpel. A carpel is the innermost part of the flower which is surrounded by male reproductive organs called stamens, both of these are surrounded by petals.
