Consider N number of capacitor with +ve and -ve charged plates .If connection to all the plates with similar charges originate from same point, you can consider this can be parallel and if the +ve and negative plates are connected then it is in series.

If u consider left side plate of the all capacitors is positive and another one is -ve then When same charges given to the same side of the plates at a time would consider parallel.....

Capacitors, or any electrical components for that sake, are said to be connected in parallel when same polarity leads are connected to a node. In other words, if same sides of capacitor ( plate in parallel plate capacitor) are connected to a node, then it is said to be parallel. If opposite polarity...

If current through the element either capacitor or resistor is equal, they are in series. If voltage across their terminal are equal, they are in parallel.

When capacitors are connected across each other (side by side) this is called a parallel connection and When capacitors are connected one after each other(end to end) this is called series connection.

Physics becomes quite easy when the curiosity and interest is invoked.

Series, When there is only one possible path for the charge to flow.. Parallel, when both plates of all the capacitors have same potential (common potential difference), it happens when one plate of all capacitors are connected by conducting wire(so have same potential) and the second plate of...

Dear Somya, to figure out the parallel or series combination you need to view your circuit from its terminal points and work your way backwards solving each segment individually. You have to breakdown the circuit intelligently into simpler parts and then visualize the capacitors (or resistors). In almost all of the cases, circuit can be simplified into arrangement of capacitors (or resistors) in parallel and series If you have any more queries you can post them and I will be more than happy to help. read less

for capacitance in parallel use formula : Capacitance (total) = capacitance of 1st capacitor + capacitance of 2nd capacitor + .... + up to n no. of capacitors. For capacitance in parallel use : C (total) = 1/ { (1/C1) + (1/C2) + (1/C3) + ... + (1/Cn) } NOTE :- C is used as an abbreviation for Capacitance...
