When white light falls on sea, longest wavelength light (i.e., red, orange and yellow) are absorbed by water and remaining short wavelength light blue gets reflected. That's why sea and as well sky looks blue in colour

In the usual case, the colour of any object that we see is due the wavelength of light that is reflected by the object. In case of water, all wavelenths except for blue are absorbed, thus reflecting blue, and hence the colour of waterappears blue. Sometimes though, we might see that water appears green...

Sometimes though, we might see that water appears green or maybe some other colour. This is due to the presence of suspended particles in water, which changes the absorption patern of water, giving it a differet colour.

Hope this answers your question! :)

The sea water appears blue because red, orange and yellow (long wavelength light) are absorbed more strongly by water than is blue (short wavelength light). So when white light from the sun enters the ocean, it is mostly the blue that gets returned. Same reason the sky is blue.

Light white light falls on sea, all colours other than blue is observed. So the blue colour is returned. this is the reason sea water appears blue in colour.
Comments

Sea water appears blue due to reflection and absorption of light, sea water absorbs higher wavelengths such as red and reflects the lower wave length blue and hence we see blue colour
