copper is an extremely powerful electrical conductor, and it is much more stable over time than aluminium. It withstands higher temperatures than aluminium does, and it doesn’t corrode to the same effect. Because of its long life and resistance to damage, it doesn’t need replaced nearly as often.

Since, resistivity of Aluminium is more than the resistivity of Copper, it does not allow the flow of electricity easily. And also the melting point of copper is more than that of aluminium .

let me correct you first, Aluminium has less melting point (659 C) as compared to Copper (1083 C). now coming at the question, aluminium is a good conductor of electricity as compared to copper, but aluminium is more reactive than copper (have a look at the reactivity series). it reacts with the moisture...

let me correct you first, Aluminium has less melting point (659 C) as compared to Copper (1083 C). now coming at the question, aluminium is a good conductor of electricity as compared to copper, but aluminium is more reactive than copper (have a look at the reactivity series). it reacts with the moisture and o2 in the air and forms a rust layer, over the conductor, which forms an insulating layer over the conductor, thus breaking the circuit. and since it has a low melting point, it melts easily at the point of electrical sparking. Whereas copper, even it is not as good conductor as aluminium, is less reactive and melting point is also high, therefore it resists high temperature arising due to electrical leakage or sparking, which makes it first choice over aluminium in household electrical wiring. read less

I think the life of copper wire is more than the life if Aluminum wire as Aluminum Wire gets Corrosion more quickly than Copper wire. and Copper is a good Conductor of Electricity ( if you want extremly good Conductor then its GOLD) then Aluminum.

Aluminium has more resistance as compared to the copper due to which there are more chances of getting a short circuit in the wiring that is why it is not used in wiring a house.

Because aluminum wire resists the electricity much because of its resistivity compared to copper
