Viscosity is a physical property of fluids. It shows the opposition of a liquid to flow (or resistance of a liquid to flow). Liquids with high viscosity have more friction in their molecules whic stop or resist them to flow in higher speed unlike water which has a very low viscosity and flows in high speed with very low friction as it's molecules are not tightly packed. For eg: Honey has high viscosity than water. A way to test for viscosity is the speed at which the substance runs down a slope. Honey would reach the bottom very slowly, whereas water would be a lot quicker. So here Honey has high Viscosity than water. Always remember, viscosity changes with the change in temperature. When a liquid heats up, its molecules become excited and begin to move. The energy of this movement is enough to overcome the forces that bind the molecules together, allowing the liquid to become more fluid and decreasing its viscosity. For example, when syrup is cold it has a high viscosity and can be difficult to pour. When heated in a microwave, the viscosity decreases and the syrup flows more freely. I hope this is clear. if you have any doubts, I would be happy to answer. read less

It is a property of the liquid which resist the flow of fluid due to frictional resistance
Comments

Viscosity is a property arising from collision between neighbouring particles in a fluid that are moving at different velocities. The viscosity of a liquid is a measure of its resistance to gradual deformation by sheer stress or tensile stress.

We may refer viscosity as thickness. For example, honey has higher viscosity than the water. Viscosity arises when the collision happens between the neighboring particles in the liquid which moves in different velocity

Viscosity is a property of the fluid which relates its resistance to the applied shear force.
