Subject verb agreement is nothing but the relationship between a subject and a verb. To explain in a lucid way: We can't say am after you or are after I. It is always I am, you are . So in order to understand the subject verb agreement we need to see the number(i.e singular/plural) and person(i.e first, second or third) of the subject.
*please read the whole sentence before doing any exercise of subject verb agreement. Sometimes students don't understand whether the verb should be in present tense/past tense /future tense.

The subject has to be 3rd person and singular(not just singular) for the verb to be singular.
Example. Ram plays hockey. Here, Ram is the subject and Ram is 3rd person singular. So, the verb (playS) is also singular.
Similarly for perfect tense we use has instead of have. Example John has a super bike.
In all other cases, the verb is plural. i.e. we use play, eat, have, etc in place of playS, eatS, have
