Hi,
It is a myth that questions in the CBSE examination are asked outside the NCERT textbooks.
If you go through the previous year question papers you will see that almost all questions are from text Book, but please note in a few questions only the numeric values are changed and not the concept.
For example in chapter 1, i.e. Real Numbers, few questions which you have been already done in class 9 (real numbers) may be asked in 1 mark questions like give the irrational number between root2 and root 3 etc.
SO PLEASE PRACTICE NCERT.
 Hope this helps.

Its a common myth among 10th class students that questions might come from outside the NCERT textbook, but in reality, it never happens. You can be 100% tension free about that. I use to think the same when I was in 10th, because of that I bought RD SHARMA. The other reason for this myth is the tuition teachers and sometimes the faculty or senior students. Instead of buying any other book, a student should revise the 10th class MATH textbook about 20 times, because any student will revise for 5 to 7 times at least in the whole year. It helps in taking a margin between them. Practise is the only key.

Chances are 10 to 20 percent that you get any questions outside the NCERT book. Pick the question papers of last 2-3 years, most of the questions are from NCERT book only. Build your concept and for practice you can go for R.S.Agarwal as it contains ample questions.

Well in mathamatics, most of the questions come directly from NCERT . Even if somthing comes out of NCERT that should not be big deal ,if you have practiced.
