To change the phase of a body from solid to liquid or liquid to vapour heat is required.This amount of heat is proportional yo mass of body. Latent heat of fusion is this amount of heat per unit mass of the body to convert it from solid to liquid. Similar latent heat of vaporization is heat required per unit mass to convert it from liquid state to vapour. Both latent heat of fusion and latent heat of vaporization are contact for a particular material.
