ICSE board is much more harder than CBSE because it has more course greater subjects and lengthy coarse the things you will learn in ICSE 6 class is studied in CBSE 8 class!

Class 11 to 12 transition is a rough(very jerky) one because class 12 is important and you can adjust to the new conditions in class 11 itself, changing at this point is not advisable in most of the cases. It's better if class 11 and 12 is done in the same college/board.

Parents today are facing dilemma with so many boards being made available. Please let me know if it is advisable to change board i.e from SSC to CBSE or ICSE and till which standard should we consider doing this without adverse impact on the student.

Up to class 10 go for ISCE and for 11-12 switch over to CBSE.I have IITian daughter by this formulae.

My kids are in class 7 and class 4. Till last year they were under CBSE. As we shifted abroad we put them in British board. Next year we will be back again in India. What i noticed is the CBSE school had very little syllabus as compared to other schools . Do different CBSE schools have different syllabus structures.Will it b ok if i prepare my kids... more»

At www.http://aipmt.nic.in/aipmt/Welcome.aspx the CBSE is still displaying details of the AIPMT conducted in May 2014, instead of details of the May 2015 examinations for which entrance forms are to start in December 2014. This is CBSE!!

CBSE may have a lenient methodology of study as compared to ICSE, but in some schools going for the All India Senior Secondary Examination in March 2015, as of date the course is yet to be completed especially in science where the students have to prepare for pre-board examinations. Most schools hold four such preparatory examinations, but Manipal School, Lucknow, cannot hold more than two because the course is incomplete. This school has a lackadaisical approach towards the education of senior students and is more concerned about its publicity school events like Akolona annual games, exhibitions, etc. Moreover, the Principal of the school encourages students to opt for humanities and commerce in that order rather than science though the schools has good labs. This is primarily because it is not able to retain experienced and skilled science teachers. In a hurry to show that the course for science has been completed, the teachers are issuing handwritten notes which are photocopied and distributed to the students to study on their own with minimum discussion of the same in the class. Who suffers? Us Students and our concerned parents who have to run around and incur further expenses for home tutions. This is the state of schools run by business houses. Manipal school is run by the RPG group. I would advise all students to join English medium Jesuit schools as these are far more dedicated to education regardless of whether they conduct ICSE or CBSE. «less

you should let your child decide what she wants to become when she is older. It is not good to enforce a job on a child with her consent. I am part of the RCO (right to choose occupation) organization and urge you to allow your child to choose her job. (IB is the best)

I would say, if a child wants to pursue a future abroad, icse holds the edge. whereas if you want to do well within the country, go for cbse. British universities want an approved result of your TOEFL or IELTS. So, ICSE holds a priority here as the english is taught more than enough and its quite british. Yes, truly it is more likely our children’s interests and their relative strengths that would help us to define a selection of board – to shape their future with something that we really want them to pursue. Whatever boards, it is ultimately relying upon which education board would allow the students what they truly want to do (usually based on their selection post-higher secondary) – what course (varying upon competitive exams taken) they would like to conduct (after twelfth grade) would likely explain them what board to select from!

CBSE is lighter, compact in syllabus; offering many career gateway, mainly going through the chief entrance exams (valid throughout India) – seems much favorable. ICSE, a board rather approaching a management and humanities study will also favor many of students; both are unique in nature by sorts of their followers; yes, entirely! «less
