As soon as we start getting split ends or uneven hair we tend to rush to hair salon because bad hair days are avoided with all our efforts. However, a person’s haircut and hairstyling depends on the cut of their face and also the texture of the hair. So we should keep the shape of our faces in mind and then get a haircut. Here are few pointers.

Round Face Shapes:

People with this kind of face cut would want a hair cut that would make their face look longer than rounder. Hence a cut that has length falling just below the chin, in gradual layers. This makes your face look slimmer since it creates little volume around the face. You could remove the emphasis on the round shape of the face with tapered ends and keeping the bangs longer and towards the side. Blunt cuts, one length cuts and curly hair accentuate the roundness of the face and hence should be avoided.

Square Face Shapes

People with square cut would want to downplay the strong cut jaw. Cuts with choppy ends or hair curls or short spiky cut tends to take away the emphasis from the square look. Long hair styles with layers that begin close to the jaw line and go down all the way to the long also break the emphasis on the face. You should avoid chin length bob cuts and bangs with blunt cuts

Oval Face Shapes

People with the oval face are the luckiest since their shape is the ideal face cut. They can experiment with any hair style, with any length. They need to decide on a feature they want to accentuate and then cut their cut accordingly. People who have a strong, beautiful bone structure would want to accentuate their chin and hence could go for bob cut in angular style or people with pretty eyes would try a blunt cut or bangs that are side swept. The most popular styles for this cut are bob cuts, long wavy hair or bangs. Just people with curly hair should avoid keeping shorter hair, they should try a length that’s longer, shoulder length or even longer.

Long or "Oblong" Face Shapes

People with a face cut like that need to add volume to the face and not cut for cuts that don’t make the hair long. Cuts with long layers with layers cut at different levels like the nose, chin and collarbone work the best. Cuts where the length is concentrated on the back and appears short on the face like V cuts also look nice. Waves and curls also add volume to the face and hence work very well. Try and not keep too long or really short hair.

Heart Face Shapes

People with this face cut have their focal point as their chin and they need draw emphasis and accentuate their eyes or cheekbones. Paris Hilton type of bangs that are side swept work very well or a cut with a strong parting and hair with length just below or at the jaw line look good. A fringe that’s brow-grazing or short hair with the first layer that’s longer or people with longer hair can go for the first layer starting at cheek bones look really stylish and draw emphasis to the cheekbone.
