Like every year, this year, also all the students and faculty members of our RPS college had organized a grand program on the occasion of this Republic Day. Everyone was feeling very happy that day because it was a matter of great pride for all of us because on 26 January 1950 the constitution of India came into force and our country, India became a republic. The program started with prayer at 8:00am. After that, parade and flag hoisting took place on the college ground as usual. The Principal of our college hoisted the national flag and gave a motivational speech on the topic “Youth Power”.  This was followed by some speeches on patriotism and singing the national anthem. Many students also did different types of programs. On that day the campus of our college was decorated by the students with charts, models, slogans, poems. Pictures that depict the development of India from independence. All the students were dressed in traditional costumes representing different parts of India. In the end, the program was concluded by distributing sweet boxes to all the students.

Report on the Republic Day Celebration. India won her freedom on the 15th of August, 1947 and became a Republic on the 25th of January, 1950. The new constitution of free India came into force with effect from this day. It is a day of national rejoicing and a red- letter day in our country. The day is celebrated with pomp and show, zeal and spirit, throughout the length and breadth of the country. The day was celebrated in our school with great eclat. The school building was tastefully decorated with flower-pots, buntings, pictures of heroes of the freedom movement and national flags. We were beside ourselves with joy. A dais was raised. Loudspeakers were fitted. We reached the school at 9 AM We were all in Khaki uniforms and Gandhi caps. The pregrammo began at 9 :30am The worthy Headmaster unfurled the national flag amidst loud cheers. The N.C.C. cadets saluted the 'National Flag.' Some selected boys sang the National Anthem. Then there were some very inspiring national songs sung in chorus. These were followed by stirring speeches by the students, teachers and some prominent citizens. We were told that the country had won political freedom but it was yet to win economic freedom. For it we had all to toil and make every sacrifice that was demanded of us. The President made a neat, little speech which was very impressive. Then the boys staged a one-act play which was very much liked by one and all. The senior boys performed a Bhangra dance. It was the highlight of the programme.In the afternoon we had games and sports. Prizes were distributed among the winners of different sports and games. Sweets were distributed among the boys. At night, the whole school building was illuminated. Tricolours fluttered proudly on the school building. It was a sight to see. It fact, it is a day of rejoicing and merry- making. May we continue celebrating this day forever!
