For practical IT/Programming knowledge you should learn and practice yourself from online as well reputed offline centres. Private College/University just focus on your academic record. 95% of placements are meant for those who have min 60% avg from 10th to BCA/MCA, some recruiters ask for min 70% avg throughout. And about CU , It will cost you aprox RS 2.75 lac-3lac for just degree and opportunity to sit in Placements. Roughly 10%-20% of total students get placed through Placements.
My recommnedation to you is BCA from PU or from its recognised govt colleges . OR bachelor degree with IT/CS as optional subject like BSc IT/CS or BA IT/CS from PU recognised govt colleges will also work for you to get into IT without spending too much on academic records. Along with that get a 6 months training in 5th semester from reputed centre like "Chotu Sharma" from Chd will cost 10-15k. Then in 6th semester try for placements or stipend based training . A Free training / job even if you won't get paid for it will also work good for you. JUST BE SURE OF WHAT CAREER YOU WANT IN IT INDUSTRY, LIKE .net developer, web design or developer, Testing, Mobile App developer, Gaming developer, Graphic Designer etc..Try to get relevant language/ technology training in 5th Semester as well as in 6th(if you don't get placement in 6th Sem). Meanwhile try in OPEN placements held in variuos Colleges/Universities. Definitely you will have uper hand from rest of students from CU, because of your1 year practical knowledge. Also you sholud be good and confident in speaking in English.
All the best :)
