Have taught in the Middle East countries; Sultan Qaboos University, Oman, Sherwood Academy, Abu Dhabi, Dominion High School ,Virginia, Archarya College of Arts and Science, Bombay, Narayan Guru College, Bombay, Pathways School Gurgaon Soft Skills Trainer, KVCET, Chennai I began teaching from 1986 in My alma mater, but that was Psychology. Then moved to acquire my TESOL diploma from the Trinity College of London and started with Sherwood Academy in Abu Dhabi teaching O level English, moving on to Sultan Qaboos University in Oman where I taught English which was mandatory for the students to pass six levels before joining the stream of their choice. Moved on to the US where I taught in the high school English to students from Hungary, Guatemala, Spain, Brazil and Honduras to integrate them into the main stream school. Moving back to India, was a soft skills trainer with 14 trainees who were trained to deliver English to students from Karpagar Vinayakar College of Engineering and Technology, Madras. I prefer student centred learning. Students learn by making mistakes with me only to guide and initiate learning. Soft board, paper pencil, discussion, supervised, mediated, role play, internet and games are some of the methods of teaching and learning. I have learnt that each student has a different need and also a varied rate of learning and understanding. Try to boost their confidence level using my specialization of Psychology. Willing to be patient. Prefer working with teens and above since the intellectual challenge is fun for both the parties. For younger students, my creativity almost levels off. My success, is when students who are unable to string a sentence in English are at the end of the session able to produce a written paragraph with few mistakes and coherence. I love it when I can actually see the learning curve move from a flat line to a line which progresses up int he chart.
