"I have been learning Hindustani Classical Vocal at Sangeet Sadhana for almost a year now. So far my experience has been extremely fulfilling. I am being tutored under Debojyoti sir. He's an extremely young and bright scholar in the field. His versatility is commendable. Every class , every raaga, every bhajan that one learns from him is taken so much in-depth that one will never forget them. His attention to details is amazing. Small tips and tricks that he provides during classes makes learning so much more worthwhile. One enters a state of trance when he's taking sessions. I eagerly look forward to weekend classes just for the enriching experience. If one has to connect deeply with the soul of music, one needs to be blessed to be under the guidance of amazingly good gurus. Needless to say, Sangeet Sadhana totally ensures that students are provided with a beautiful environment to learn and thrive in the field of music. Happy learning! "

Sangeet Sadhana school of Music and Art

"Aarya, our ten-year-old, has been a disciple of Sangeeth Sadhana since he was five, is aspiring to be a professional Hindustani Classical Singer with three national certifications already under his belt. Trained under various gurus at Sangeet Sadhana, he's grown to adore Swati ma'am the most, who happens to be his current guru. Swati ma'am helped change Aarya's perception of music, especially when he had hit a creative roadblock last year and refused to attend the classes. After a while, we as parents had given up, but Ma'am was persistent. She periodically spoke to him through his break and ensured he was kept warm and encouraged. Swati Ma'am and Anandita Ma'am played an instrumental role in being patient, talking to Aarya regularly, and bringing him back on the right path. Today his learning curve is on an all-time high (according to us) because he enjoys singing and learning. He voluntarily requested us to increase the frequency of his sessions from two to four per week and also practices regularly. I know he is in the right place and trusted hands since the gurus are invested in their students. We like to thank Anindita Ma'am and all other gurus Aarya has trained with, most importantly, Swati Ma'am for bringing in the change in Aarya. We are forever indebted. "

Sangeet Sadhana school of Music and Art

" I am now student of Swati ma'am in Sangeet Sadhana. She is an excellent teacher. She teaches us one by one each and every steps in music which is the foundation. What I feel without foundation a building can never stand. She really makes our foundation. I am enjoying the class. It works me as a stress reliever. The pressure I have in my work place is relieved when I attend the music class that provides me energy for the entire wee. Till now, I have only completed one month. Within this, I have learnt alankars based on raag yaman. Which helps me as riyaz every day. And Raag Bhairav, One Lakshangeet, Madhyalay, Bandhish with Vistaar, Boltaan and Taans. Just now, we have started Raag Durga. I am sure what ma'am is teaching is the best way and that perfect practice will make me perfect in music. I am enjoying! Thank you Swati ma'am. "

"While I was in Bangalore, a friend of mine mentioned about Sangeet Sadhana. I visited the classes for enquiry, and I was asked to wait to meet the Guru. While I was waiting, I noticed that the entire ambiance of Sangeet Sadhana had a strong, distinct aura. From the first meeting with the Guru to the day I write this review, I have always felt that special ‘Guru-shishya parampara’ here. Sangeet Sadhana follows a very traditional and authentic method of imparting knowledge. Upon joining, we were given a month-long orientation to understand the history of Indian classical music and the basics of Hindustani classical. Later we were aligned to respective batches. I consider myself privileged to have had the opportunity to learn from Swathi madam, my Guru. She is an epitome of patience and perfection. Such a caring, empathetic teacher. Sangeet Sadhana follows a very disciplined approach to classes,with proper attendance, constant focus on regular riyaaz, exposure to various kind of raagas and forms such as thumri, semi classical. There are proper exams conducted by Pracheen Kala Kendra. Currently, the classes are being conducted online due to pandemic, however, I see no difference in the personalized attention and guidance one gets. Gurus have been very accommodating and cooperative during such uncertain times and never let our learning stop. I am glad to be a part of Sangeet Sadhana and I sincerely hope to continue my musical journey with all the love and guidance from my Gurus. "

"I have been attending Hindustani vocal classes since July 2017, and it has been an inspiring and enriching experience. I love the way importance is given to basics and theory. Everyone these days are in a hurry to jump to Ragas and compositions, but at Sangeet Sadhana the Gurus are very careful in imparting the fundamentals and basics. The enthusiasm with which the gurus teach, the discipline with which the classes are conducted and the knowledge that is gained from fellow students makes the whole experience enthralling and mesmerizing! Sangeet Sadhana also brings students closer to maestros of Hindustani Classical Music. Recently more than 50 students worked tirelessly with the Gurus to organize a once in a lifetime concert called Benarasiya which hosted Pandit Rajan Misra Ji and Pandit Sajan Misra Ji. This sort of opportunity is not easily made available for students like us. I am grateful and glad that I decided to start my Hindustani Classical Music journey with an institution like Sangeet Sadhana. "

"It was my best experience in sangeet sadhana. It is not only about music but it also formats our whole mind set with positive energy. Patience and discipline are the two major lessons which I experienced along with music here. Reet sir knows how those initial days were and at what pathetic emotional condition i was when i first came to this institute - my temple - i would rather christian it as such. My child Khyati was uncontrollable disturbed child. I almost gave up hope to continue with her singing class when Reet sir along with Anandita ma'am assured me that in few days everything will be fine. Just to have patience. And it did. Now my child loves to sing sa re ga ma and her rowdy behaviour have also changed. Thanks to Reet sir's magic and all the other gurus' support. Discipline and patience which is missing nowadays in todays' world can be learned here along with soothing Hindustani music. Even I am a non singer but Reet sir, Anandita maam and Swathi maam assured me that practice and more practice will make me perfect. Reet sir says "Music is the gift of nature. "I have been a part of this family since last one and half years and the journey has been amazing. I was learning music before as well, but this is the place where I fell in love with classical music. Discipline, Dedication, determination and devotion are the main pillars of our school and it has helped me not only in music but also to develop myself as a human being. If you want to experience the purest form of music then this is the place. All the teachers are equally talented and gunni people. They chose different ragas and semi classical (bhajan, thumri, ghajal etc.) compositions according to your level and will ensure that you get back to them with practice. School arranges tabla sessions in class to give us a feeling of live performance where collaboration with other accompanists is very much required. Music is mostly practical but gaining the theoretical knowledge is equally important and ma’am do focus on this part as well, we do have sessions to discuss about history of Indian classical music, different gharanas and their rendition styles. School conducts series of baithaks, concerts and workshops where we get opportunities perform, listen to our peers and other eminent professionals. Anindita ma’am is like a mother to me, equally strict and soft and Sangeet Sadhna is an extended family where I got friends with same interest. "

"Well I feel quite privileged for having had an opportunity to be a part of Sangeet Sadhana and learn the basics of classical from the most dedicated set of gurus I have ever come across. I moved to Bangalore in October last to last year, starting my job life. One fine day I thought of registering for classical music(for which I always had a desire to learn, but never got a chance to learn). Soon I got acquainted with Anandita ma'am, Ananya ma'am and Reet Sir, after joining the classes and learning from them was really a great experience. Also one special mention is that I made few superb friends too. Unfortunately I had to leave SS as I was moving to Mumbai, but the teachings are imbibed within me and soon I'll take up classes in Mumbai. It was a wonderful 1 1/4 yrs of musical journey which I had to pause with a grief in my heart. Cheers to the SS team. "

"It has been about 1.5 years in Sangeet Sadhana and it has been an amazing journey so far. I have a big smile when I am writing this about My Institute and I say it proudly! Here, focus is on making the basics and foundation very strong. It very rarely happens that I miss a class (inspite of Cold, fever, etc) and I keep looking forward to attend the classes. Here, tradition of Guru Shishya is followed. A strict discipline is maintained and stressed upon in terms of attendance to class, timings, Riyaz, payment of fees or whatever be it. Music has become an integral part of me and I have realized the importance of being sincere and dedicated to music. Baithaks are arranged, in which students are encouraged to perform on stage. It is an amazing experience to come together as students get together for various practice sessions, correct each other, teach each other and ofcourse have fun. Can’t thank this institute enough for imbibing the love for music in me. I was initially in the Beginners batch and was moved to Anandita Ma’am’s batch as I progressed. It is wonderful to see the change in me. Mam gives attention to the most minute details and does not let us settle down for anything less than perfection. Reet Sir and all other teachers of the institute, who don’t take classes just for the heck of it. "Sanger sadhana organised a musical evening with the school students. The parents and invitees were enthralled by the performances by the students, occasionally supported by the Guru. The event was very meticulously planned and innovatively introduced history of classical music and their stalwarts in playfully with the participation of talented students. The background narration and slide presentation helped decipher the complex tapestry of classical music. The children enlivened the event with cheering participation from parents. The performances by the different groups of grown ups, teenagers and elders, mesmerized the audience. I wish the Guru-shishya parampara, that the school endeavours to establish and follow, an astounding success. "I found about Sangeet Sadhana 4 months back when I was looking for a good Hindustani classical coach for my 7 year old daughter. I have seen a lot of improvement in my daughter's voice and rhythm in this short span. Sangeet Sadhana is about serious learning and the teachers out there give utmost attention to the progress of each kid. Recently they organised a musical concert Udaan where all the kids performed. "Its been almost 6 months I have joined Sangeet Sandhna and believe me, it is really a wonderful experience. I would surely recommend Sangeet Sadhna if you are planning to learn Hindustani classical and semi classical. All the teachers are really good and helpful. Their methodology of explaining things in both, theory and practical, is really amazing. We do practice in school with Taanpura, Harmonium and tabla. During the practice, teacher concentrates on each and every student, explain their problems and make them correct it. So it is like one on one basis coaching. Also you can send your recordings to them which they will listen and give proper comments. As a beginner, I have started with basic alankars and meerkhand. Till now, I have learnt basic ragas as classical form while thumari, bhajan and tarana as semi classical form. Now, I can see improvement in myself just because of the directions provided by sangeet sadhna. e.g. Initially I was unable to sing lower notes but now I am able to manage it. One more good thing is that Sangeet sadhna provides you a platform to perform in various forms, either exam or events such as concert and annual function. I am glad to be a part of the school and I am very excited continuing my journey here. "

"My experience with sangeet sadhana bas been pretty good for the past 5-6 months that i have been here. Learning any art or skill requires lot of hard work and dedication. Keeping that in mind, the school administration stresses on maintaining discipline. Here are few things about it 1. If anyone is absent for more than 3-4 classes without informing, he/she is confronted directly about this 2. Strict rules for complying with class timings, payment of fees on time are there. 3. Tests are taken regularly and those who are trying but not able to do well in them are given special attention in the school, because its obvious that not everyone can learn a skill in the same pace. And there are activities other than normal classes also, where we can participate voluntarily and learn more. So my overall conclusion about sangeet sadhana is that it is a good place for those who want to learn, and anyone taking learning of music casually won't simply fit in. "

"Hi, I am Moumita. I join Sangeet Sadhana 3 months back. I love music. But after joining the class I started understand the music. Here we can start from very basic of music i. e S R G M P… Does not matter how old are you. Except music Mam (Anindita Mekherjee) and Sir (Reetesh Sir) teaching us how we should practice and improve our voice quality. They are very encouraging. I am enjoying the classes very much. I am feeling lucky to be the part of ‘Sangeet Sadhana’. People who are thinking ‘I am too old to start learning music’… ‘I don’t have time ’… or ‘What people will think’ or some other reason ….
