Yes, you can start working out at this age. I want to tell you to reduce the fat more than working out in the gym. You should be careful about your kitchen (means diet). You should eat according to your BMI. You need to set your daily intake quantity and quality of food, and when it comes to exercise as you have mentioned you want to reduce the weight, then you should go for cardio and circuit exercise.
