Hello Amit,
A covalent bond is a bond formed between two non-metal atoms. This bond is beneficial for carbon as carbon has 4 electrons in its valence shell, and to complete its Octet, it needs electrons when they form a covalent bond. The covalent bond formed here is very strong because of the small size of carbon.
