The only thing I have liked all my life have been stories. Fortunately, literature introduced me to stories of the world. Literature taught me about societies and about histories of nations. Through Literature, I also learnt about my political position and ideology. All I can say is that literature introduced me to myself.

I teach literature for many reasons - primarily because i don't know anything else! I like to share my passion for the great ideas that have been stored in books. Can literature be taught? I am not sure. I enjoy it and in my years as a teacher I have found hundreds of people who enjoy literature for its own sake.

I have written and edited books on areas that i have been interested in - postcolonial fiction and feminism, Indian Literature in English and in Translation.

I have won the Sahitya Akademi Award for translating a Hindi novel into English. My Ph.D thesis was a comparative study of Hindi women writers and Indian English women writers.

Literature and literary topics have to be discussed - and so I prefer a face -to- face method of learning. If it is online, then it has to be via skype.
