DURATION: 2 MONTHS/72 HOURS
It is a course meant for primary to tertiary level of students. The course imparts knowledge are the following areas.
ï?¼ Fluency and Coherence: - Methods of brief conversations closely associated with routines/ profession, travelogues, queries an answers (both positive negative) Fun or Frolic etc. where importance to constructional styles and cohesive measures will be given in the right perspective. For example- Mingle with English speaking crowd, take mirror practice, listen to the BBC news on Radio/ TV. Listen, cassettes or CDs and even read dialogues.
ï?¼ Structural styles (Basics):- Basic structures like usage of tenses, auxiliary verbs, modals, prepositions articles etc will be taught to the students in such a way that they are able to use it at instantaneous conversations very effectively. On furnishing knowledge about it, they will be helped to construct dialogues and practice it in the classroom under the behest of the instructor. Within few hours the individual gains ample of knowledge in the above mentioned regions
ï?¼ Accentuation: - The Trainees will be made to accentuate both the public school pronunciations and the Received pronunciation methods. According to General Indian English, we generally follow P.S.P in almost all organisations, where we find a lot of provincial influence in utter case which will be eliminated by rapid training. Received pronunciation is known as pronunciation of socialisation which is widely used amongst educated Londoners, innovative methods are introduced at our institutions
ï?¼ Group discussion / Practice for interviews: - We have classified the steps for interviews in to 3 parts.
o Personal details, interests, views. (4-5 minutes talk)
o Talk on a particular topic. (3-4 minutes)
o Discussions (abstract) in connection with the above mentioned topic (whatever may be the talk). 4-5 minutes
ï?¼ Extension of etiquette: - Trainees are taught the specific polite way of behaviour, customs, rules and courtesies to be followed according to the occasions / situations.
A lot of exercises will be given to the candidate in the form of brief conversations closely associated with the day to day life, such as routines job, sport, games a great number of times either in front of a mirror practice, listening news on Radio/ TV or cassettes, as instructed by the trainer. Coherence (linking words phrases etc) gives sense and life to the dialogues.
Linking words and phrases are to be practiced by the trainees as directed. Fluency and coherence has got great importance in conversations.
ï?· Structural styles (both basic and enhanced): - Basic auxiliaries and its applications. For eg: - Various usages of auxiliary verbs, modals, semi modals, tenses clauses, connectives, gerundial constructions, Participle constructions, infinitive constructions and so on.
ï?· Accent: - The trainees are introduced with best public school pronunciation (PSP) and Received Pronunciation (R.P).
ï?· Practice for interviews: -
Part I: - A systematic approach to the interviews.
It consists of the methods of greeting, decency and decorum to be maintained when the interview takes place, such as occulence (eye to eye contact), pleasant posture (neither excessively relaxed nor apprehensive). No much gestures or gesticulations. Introduction of vocabularies / phrases etc to be used when commenting on a topic/ factual descriptions or negative / positive expressions, emphasizing factors etc.
Part II: - Description of various topic logically.
Part III: - Talks broadly in connection with the above mentioned topic where one has to express the strength in language.
ï?· Drafting letter
ï?· Extempore speech: - Speech without previous preparations, we will impart training by giving individual attention.
ï?· Etiquette: - Extension of decorum at various occasions/ contexts such as method of welcome / introduction, leave taking, expressing felicitations / grief / consolation / concern etc.
ï?· Heuristics: - A method of finding answers and solving problems by reading or listening.
ï?· Thread bare discussion over various topics: - A systematic way of discussions ( In the right perspective)
