Frictional contact definition: (1): Always solve contact elements for their initial contacts and find their status. Whenever the contacts show in open condition, you need to bring them closer(@CAD) to reduce gaps. Use Augmented Lagrangian approach to solve. This approach reduce penetration and close the gaps automatically. Refine the contact areas for smaller sized elements, so there are enough normal and tangential stiffness distribution across the contact areas, that increases the possibility for convergence.
When you are working with bigger structures and assemblies, check if the parts are touching each other, or there is overlapping in between geometries. Even very small overlaps are assumed to interference behavior. The geometries assume to solve with a strong force ripping out each other. Use: Adjust to touch, at properties, Frictional contact.
